vABSTRACTORGANIZATIONAL HEALTH OF THE PRIMARY (K-8) SCHOOLSM. Akif TEKİNMaster ThesisEducational Administration and SupervisionAdvisor: Assist. Prof. Dr. Sadegül AKBABA ALTUNOctober 2005, xvi+101 PagesThe problem of this research, which is related to primary schooladministrators? perception level of organizational health, is to determine what is theperception level of the organizational health of the administrators who work in theprimary school. With this search it?s aimed to provide help to the politics that will beprepared to improve effectiveness, productivity and quality development of this?organizational health? concept in our education system.The administrators who work in the public primary school in Bolu whichare affiliated to MEB, compose the population of this search. It?s reached to 33 of 49principals and 56 of 74 assistant principals who are working in the 49 primaryschools in that place and the organizational health scale which is developed byAkbaba (1997) has been applied.The data which are taken from the totaly 89 questionaries and that canreturn and be valid, 33 of principals, 56 of assistant principals, are analiezed by usingSPSS for Windows software package and frequencies, mean and standart deviationhave been calculated. Also, in the analysis of the data, t-test, one-way analysis ofvariation and if there are significant differences in the groups after the result ofanalysis, Post Hoc Tukey HSD and LSD tests statistical methods have been used.The differences have been tested in the 0.5 significant level to find out which groupsthey are proceeded.Primary school administrators? perception level of their school?sorganizational health and it?s sub levels are identified individually, and it has beenvitested if there is a significant difference between them. Furthermore, the differencesbetween the perception levels and characteristics are examined.It?s resulted that primary school administrators? perception level oforganizational health of their schools are in ?rarely level?, the toughts aboutleadership are in ?always level?, the toughts about organizational unity,organizational identity, organizational product and enviromental effectiveness are in?rarely level.?The professional features like their subjects, job?s experinece, the durationin their schools that they are working, sex and duties don?t cause a difference in theorganizational health perception levels, but their education background and theirvariabilities of the styles of their trasfer result a meaningful difference in 0.5 level..Key Words: Organizational Health, Organizational leadershipOrganizational unity, Organizational idendification, Organizational product,Enviromental effectiveness, Primary school, Managers.
