Opinions and suggestions of English teachers in primary schools about inclusive education

The aim of this research is to determine the opinions and suggestions of English Teachers of inclusive classes in primary schools about inclusive education. This research was carried out based on the opinions of the teachers of primary school inclusive classes in Tepebaşı, Eskişehir in 2011-2012 education year. In the research, the screening model was used and 25 English Teachers of inclusive classes were interviewed. Data of research were collected by using semi-structered interview technique which is a qualitative data collection method. In analyzing the interview data, descriptive analysis technique was employed; qualitative data were transformed into quantitative data and frequency calculation was done. According to the findings of the study, many English Teachers have stated that they are not satisfied with inclusive students' being at the general education classes. As a result of this study; it has been found out that teachers have inadequate knowledge about inclusive education so they need to be informed by the specialists and they should be provided the support services needed. Also, it has been seen that despite of the legal obligatory, most of the English Teachers didn't prepare Individualized Education Programme (IEP) for their students in inclusive settings and they didn't have actual and enough information about English teaching techniques and methods. Moreover, English Teachers have taken attention to the importance of studying inclusive education in the universities. Also, the teachers have stated that they face to some problems like unsuitable physical environments of schools, crowded classrooms, inadequate time and materials.
