A research on primary schools according to their characteristics of being learning organization

The aim of that study is to determine whether the primary schools have the characteristic of being a learning organizatin based on the view of the administrators and the teachers working in the state primary schools within the directorate of national education of Uşak: it is also aimed to see whether the characteristic of being a leraning organization show meaningful change according to gender,professional seniority, branch and educational background.The research universe of the study is composed of 286 administrators and 1669 teachers working in 175 state primary schools within the border of central districts; Banaz, Eşme, Karahallı, Sivaslı, Ulubey and its villages of the province of Uşak in 2011-2012 education-instruction. As for the sample of the study, it is composed of 99 administrators and 386 teachers were selected by a stratified sampling method and working in 85 state primary schools in the same central districts and its villages. In this study the survey method is used.The scale used in this study is composed of two parts. In the first part the personal information of the participants which are gender, professionl seniority, branch, educational background, duty, seniority of administration, number of teachers and number of students can be seen while in the second part there are the items used to determine the characteristics of schools according to their being learning organization.The SPSS 17.0 packet programme used to analyze the data gathered from the scale.In that sense each item's aritmtic means and standart deviation evaluated and shown on tables. And also the data gathered in the research were interpreted by such techniques as t test, ANOVA, Tukey HSD test.The results are presented on tables.As a results of the research, ıt is find out that the items Personal Control (KH) , Mind Model (ZM), Shared Vision (PV), Learning as a Team (THÖ), System İdea (SD) answered as I agree by the participants which shows actually the avarage level. In addition to this it is concluded that the participants views don't show a meaningful difference according to gender variable while it shows meaningful difference according to duty, branch, educational background, professional seniority, age, number of teachers and number of students variables.Key Words: Learning Organization, Learning School
