A research on relatinship of instructional leadership behaviour of elementary school principals and organizational commitment of teachers

Today, that the change has occured rapidly the roles of management that are displayed by the school principals have differentiated. For schools, in order to keep their function efficiently and productively, it is vital to school principals to realize their instutional leadership role. The manners and beheviours of school managements have both negative and positive effects on the teacher working at that instution. From this point, in this research, it has been tried to determine a relationship between instructional leadership behaviours of elementary school principals and organizational commitment of teachers.This study is a descriptive research with a scanning model. The sample of this study is made up of 450 teachers who work in state primary schools in the central districts of Ankara. The first part of data collection is made up of ?Demographic Information?; the second part is made up of ?Organizational Commitment Scale?; and the third part is made up of ?Principal Instructional Leadership Behavior Survey of Teaching?. In order to analyze the sub-hypotheses of the study Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient, Independent Samples t-Test, One-Way Anova (ANOVA), Tukey-HSD Comparison Test, Multiple Linear Regression analyses have been realized.In the research, it is found that there is a meaningful relation between working experience and harmony and identification dimensions of organizational commitment. Elementary school principals generally perform the instructional leadership behaviours and teachers commitment to their institution a level of intermediate. Supporting teachers by displaying more instructional leadership behaviors, realizing clear steps for teachers devoloping, using reward power can be defines as suggestions for principals.Key Words: Leadership, instructional leadership, organizational commitment,
