Study of elementary school students' attitudes towards English in terms of level determinig exam and other variables in a comparative way

The aim of this research is to discern the attitudes of elementary school students towards English in terms of Level Determining Examination and other variables in a comparative way.The findings of the research lead to the following conclusions: there is a significant relationship between the attitudes of students and their sex and the level of their mother?s education. Other findings of the research are: female students attending to state schools and in general female students have more positive attitudes than male students. Students attending to state schools and whose mother?s education level is low have more positive attitudes than those whose mother?s education level is high in state schools. However students attending to private schools and whose mother?s education level is high hold more positive attitudes than those whose mother education level is low in private schools. One further finding is that those students attending to private schools and going to private teaching centers hold more positive attitudes towards English in the dimension of importance and necessity than the students attending to private schools and who don?t go to private teaching centers.No significant relationship has been found between students? attitudes towards English and the level of their father?s education, family income, whether there is anybody in the family who speaks English and whether they receive support from their families for studying English for the Level Determining Exam.
