Primary school teachers? opinions about in service training programs (Mudurnu case)

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of primary school teachers about in service training programs in Mudurnu, district of Bolu.This study covers all primary schools in Mudurnu, district of Bolu in 2008-2009 academic year. It was determined that 105 teachers worked in all primary school in Mudurnu, district of Bolu. In this study, to examine the opinions of primary school teachers about in-service training programs the questionnaire developed by Uçar (2006) about the opinions of the administrators and the teachers working in primary schools concerning in-service training practices of the Ministry of National Educaiton was used. Because this questionnaire was applied to teachers, the concepts of ?administrator? were excluded in the questionnaire.In this study, descriptive research method was used, and the data of this study was analyzed with SPSS 16.0 version (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). In the process of data analysis, frequencies, percentages, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, one way Anova, and Scheffe test were used to be based on the purpose of this study. Among the variants, a 0.05 meaningfulness level is considered to determine if there is a certain diffence or not.In the consequence of this study, generally the opinions of the teachers who work in primary schools in Mudurnu, district of Bolu about in-service training are as follows.In the terms of responses given questionnaire items regarding the necessity of in-service training on the first item saying ?An institution always provides the staff with in-service training?, the participants fairly agreed with the mean score of 3.48.In terms of responses given questionnaire items regarding the necessity of in-service training, on the fourth item saying ?Improvements on science and technology force teachers to take in-service training? the participants fairly agreed with the mean score of =4.08.In terms of responses given questionnaire items regarding accesion willingness of participations in-service training on the ninth, item saying ?I willingly take part in-service training? the participants fairly agreed with the mean score of =3.44.In terms of responses given questionnaire items regarding accesion willingness of participations in-service training on the tenth, item saying ?I take part in-service training as I believe that it will improve my knowledge? the participants fairly agreed with the mean score of =3.74.In terms of responses given questionnaire items regarding effectiveness of in-service training on the twelfth, item saying ?In service training activities are carried out in the times convenient to participants? the participants fairly agreed with the mean score of =2.56.In terms of responses given questionnaire items regarding effectiveness of in-service training on the sixteenth, item saying ?In service training activities are carried out (in the physical environment) that is proper to the program? the participants fairly agreed with the mean score of =3.74.In terms of responses given questionnaire items to problems of in-service training on the twenty fourth, item saying ?The instructors who are going to take the responsibility of in-service training are not opted out among the experts in their study areas.In terms of responses given questionnaire items to problems of in-service training on the twenty sixth, item saying ?There is no effective and regular in-service training education politics for teachers? the participants fairly agreed with the mean score of =3.48.Key Words: In-Service Training, Primary School Teachers
