Abstract (EN)
This study investigates the 8th grade primary school students? transferring Force and Motion unit topics into everyday life problem solving. The participants of the study designed as action research are 33 8th grade students chosen using critical case sampling method. The data were collected through the ?Achievement Test on Force and Motion Units? (KHÜBT) and ?Science Transfer Test (FBTT)? developed by the researcher.The data were evaluated in two phases. Relationship between the achievement test and the transfer test scores were evaluated in the first phase while the second phase aimed at identifying the level of transferring science and technology topics into everyday life problem solving.Analysis results indicate that there is a positive, significant, and medium-level relationship between achievement and transfer test scores.Transfer levels developed in the scope of this study were categorized as zero transfer, deficient transfer and complete transfer. The complete transfer levels of science and technology topics into everyday life were found to be quite low in 8th grade students. Besides, the participants were found to perform both zero transfer and deficient transfer to a great extent.
