Teachers and students options about elementary educations social studies text books

ABSTRACT The aim of this search is to evaluate the physical condition of Social Studies Text Books which is taught in 4th 5th 6th and 7th class of elementary education in the educational year of 2000-2001 and contents of these books; maps, drawings, photographs, scales, illustration and extra features to determine the thoughts of students and teachers about features of preperations questions. İn this research, relating to Social Studies Text Books which were taught in 2000-2001 educational year, it was studied about the answers of 1367 students from 18 primary in 7 provinces and 60 teachers who were teaching Social Studies to students. The research is a descriptional study. İh this research, data were collected by applying different questionnaires to the students and teachers. These questionnaires were prepared in order to be applied to the 1367 students and 60 teachers to find answers to the sub-questions. After picking up and scoring these questionnaires data were analyzed using percantage and hypothesis test As a conclusion; according to the opinions of teachers and students who were 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th. class. İt has found Social Studies text books have some problems with their map, drawings, photographs, illustration plan and etc.; contents; preparation and evaluation questions. İn addition it has been found that there are very considerable differences between the opinions of teachers and students, about Social Studies text books.
