Education of philosophy for children in Turkish lessons applications at the second grade of elementary school

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine how philosophy education practices are implemented for children who are integrated with the second grade Turkish lesson of primary school. The research was designed as a holistic single case study in the case study model. There are a total of 13 students, 7 girls and 6 boys, who volunteer to participate in the research. Participants were selected through criterion sampling. The lesson plans prepared by taking expert opinions were applied by the classroom teacher in a total of 25 lesson hours in Turkish lessons through online education. Research data was collected using different data collection tools and methods such as participatory observation, video recordings, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students at the end of the application, researcher diary, teacher diary and student products. The research data were analyzed through descriptive analysis. As a result of the research, the education of philosophy for children applications in Turkish lesson at the second grade of primary school was carried out in six stages including the attention gathering study, stimulus presentation, determination of the main question to be discussed, inquiry group, evaluation and applications of reinforcing philosophical activities. During the applications, problems were identified in different areas and solutions were suggested for these problems also student and teacher views on implementation were shared.
