The evaluation of realization level of gains of let's know about substance unit in 4th grade science curriculum in primary school

The purpose of this study is to identify the realization level of gains of let's know about substance unit in 4th grade science curriculum in primary school. The research group of this study is consisted of 4th grade students of a state school, classroom teacher and administrator of this school from Muratpasa district of Antalya province which was determined with purposeful sampling technique. Parallel mixed methods design was used in the method of this study. Achievement tests, observation form and semi structured intterview form were used as data collection tools in the study. Quantitative data of the research was obtained as a result of achievements tests prepared and implemented by researcher and paired samples t test was used to analyse this data. Quantitave data of the research was obtained as a result of observation of classroom along 10 weeks; interview with classroom teacher and administrator of the school and also analysis of coursebook and curriculum content. Quantitative data was analysed by content anaysis technique. What factors play role in the realization of gains of let's know about substance unit on students were determined as a result of data obtained ıt was found out that although there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores of students statistically as a result of the analysis, the results were not occurd in desired level. It was found out that there was deficiency on the implementation of the related unit as a result of observation and interviews, but this deficiency was tried to be eliminated with the collaboration of teacher, administrator, students and family. So, some suggestions were offered to curriculum makers, school administrators, practioners and researchers in terms of related unit of curriculum to be more effective and productive.
