Abstract (EN)

In the research, it is aimed to eliminate the mistakes made by primary school fourth grade students in the field of learning numbers and operations in mathematics lessons, with effective learning model applications. In this study, which was designed with a qualitative approach, the teaching experiment model was used. The study group of the research consists of twelve students studying in the fourth grade of primary school in the 2022-2023 academic year chosen by criterion sampling, one of the purposeful sampling methods. Due to the nature of criterion sampling model in the study, various criteria were determined to include students in the research process. These criteria are that the participant is a 4th grade student in primary school, hasn't been absent constantly for various reasons and has given an incorrect answer to one or more of the questions in the achievement test. 12 students who met these criteria were included in the research process. The data of the study, which lasted for one semester, were collected by error-recognition test, the documents of the measurement-evaluation activities carried out during the practices with active learning techniques, the documents taken from the students' math notebooks, the error registration form, the clinical interview forms and semi-structured interview forms. Data obtained from different data collection tools were analyzed using content analysis technique. In the study, it was found that the errors determined in the pre-clinical interviews decreased in the interim clinical interviews made after the first teaching sessions and the errors made except for the mistakes caused by carelessness were eliminated in the last clinical interviews after the second teaching sessions. In addition, in the research, it was determined that the participant students were satisfied with the activities designed on the basis of the active learning model; they reported that the activities were fun and enjoyable, and they answered the questions in an inquisitive way. As a result of the interviews with the teacher of the classroom in which the application was made, it was concluded that the teacher had parallel views with the students about the activities based on the active learning model and they carried out a possitive effect on the teaching and learning processes in the students' other lessons.
