A model about 4th graders' obtaining helpfulness value in primary school "Customs and tradition box"

Education is a thing that has a direct impact on the material and moral level of the society which it belongs to. Therefore, the societies make many researches and spend a vast sum of money on education systems. The governments shape their education systems according to their social needs. While forming these systems,the material and moral needs and conditions of that society are taken into consideration. Besides this, there are some common values which the societies need and all governments put these values above other values and build their systems on these common values. From past to present, one of the most important means which plays a role in teaching and transferring the values in every moment of our life to the new generation is traditions. In this study, it is aimed to analyze the infuence of the "customs and traditions box" project on primary school students' acquisition of helpfulness value. The matching design , a kind of quasi-experimental design, has been used in the research. The experimental group of the research is formed of the students who have received education at İMKB Cumhuriyet Elementary School in 2018-2019 academic year and the students who study in the central district of Sivas/Yıldızeli city. In the research, the pretest-posttest achievement scale has been used to collect data. The data acquired after the research has been analyzed through SPSS for Windows 22.0 programme. In accordance with the research objective,the pretest-posttest scores of the developed helpfulness achievement scale and the control and experimental groups have been analyzed through "T" test which is one of parametric tests and the comparisons of these tests have been made. In consequence of the research, considering the point averages of achievement pretest conducted through control and experimental groups before the experimental process, a significant difference among the groups couldn't be identified. Almost same scores have been obtained from the achievement pretest of each group before the experimental process. After conducting "customs and traditions box" project through the experimental group during the experimental process,a significant difference has been identified between the groups considering the point averages of achievement posttest applied to the control and experimental groups. It is realized that the posttest point average of the experimental group is higher and as a result of this fact, it is deduced that "customs and traditions box" project which is applied to the test group is more efficient in gaining the value of helpfulness than the recommended teaching methods in the curriculum.
