The effect of the story type in the primary fourth class on the development of the written expression skill

Abstract (EN)

In this study, through the activities prepared on the basis of the priliminary studies, it has been aimed to advance the written expression skills of the primary fourth grade students. The research was applied in Mecidiye Primary School fourty students studying in this school were included in this study. To test the writtten expression skills, the students were asked to write a story on one of the topics prepared by the masters in this field. The written stories were analyzed according to the written expression prepared by the researcher. In this study in which the experimental methods with pre and final test groups were used following the pre test application. The students in the experimental group were made to write stories during the six weeks for 24 hours in total. The lessons were regular with the students in the controlled group. Following the applied studies, the last test was made and the students were asked to write another story about the subject they chose. When the stody writing skills of the students were compared to the articles in the written expression form, it was seen that the last test marks of the students in the experimental group were higher than pre test marks. Also, it was foumd that students in the test group had significantly higher scores in terms of their total scores in post-test average scores of test group were statistically higher than the post-test total scores and average scoresof the control group. Based on these results, it can be stated that such applications of story genre imporoves students writing skills. Key Words: Story Writing Skills, Writing Activities, 4 th Grade Sudents
