Abstract (EN)

Animals are killed in the fields of consumption, clothing and scientific research; exhibited in zoos, "wildlife parks" and water parks; used for entertainment, sport and tradition. The instrumentalization of the animal is related to the anthropocentric regime. The structural factors of this regime are state-run institutions. The way of describing and describing animals in textbooks, which is a material of educational institutions, transfers to generations how human-animal interaction should be in social life. The subject of this thesis is the animal concept that textbooks produce and put into circulation. The research was limited to Turkish, Liberal Arts and Science textbooks at the primary school level of the Turkish education system. Textbooks formulate the animal as an industrial resource, proletarian, killable, displayable and commercializable commodity bodies. This formulation puts an end to the subjectivity of the animal. Studies carried out in the science of sociology, of course, deal with various issues, but also examine the struggle of individuals who have been marginalized and marginalized due to reasons such as their class, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation. Studies carried out under the science of sociology in Turkey have ignored the animals that were born on the edge of life and were subjected to systematic violence throughout their lives. The killing and domination of animals is related to their acceptance as objects. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the discourses objectifying animals. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the textbooks make man a ruler on earth with archaic teachings. Textbooks are under the influence of nature-culture dualism. In addition, textbooks are in line with the official animal policy of the state. The discourses produced by the textbooks radically stigmatize animals. Textbooks produce and spread faulty animal epistemologies.
