Comparisons of mathematics and science teaching programs of gifted/talented individuals in primary school period in Turkey and Germany

The aim of this study is to determine the strengths and weaknesses of both countries by comparing the education models of mathematics and science courses applied in Germany and Türkiye for gifted/talented individuals in the primary school period. The research is an example of a comparative case study, which is a qualitative research model, and answers were sought for four sub-problems in the research. The documents obtained in this regard were examined by the document analysis method. The universe of the research consists of laws, circulars, regulations etc. and books, theses, articles, papers presented in symposiums, congresses, workshops, and resources that can be accessed from the websites of relevant institutions and organizations. Following the findings obtained as a result of the examination and analysis of these sources, the similarities and differences of the education programs applied in the primary school period for gifted and talented individuals in Germany and Türkiye have been determined with evidence. The findings obtained as a result of the research revealed that there are many different applications to support gifted/talented individuals in Germany, while the applications in Türkiye are insufficient to meet the needs. Based on this result, it is recommended that the necessary legal arrangements be made immediately and practices aimed at meeting the current need be put into practice.
