Values education with digital storytelling implementation in primary school fourth year

The purpose of this research study is to investigate how 4th grade students utilized the digital stories for values education in the primary school. A case study was conducted as a one of qualitative research designs for this study. The participants of the study included 31 students from 4th grade in the Primary School in central district of Bartın province in the spring semester of 2018-2019 academic year. Observation, semi-structured interview with 4th grade students and teachers, the digital story products, diaries of the researcher and students was used as a data collection method in qualitative research study. The data which was obtained in this research study, was analyzed with descriptive analysis method. 4th grade students' digital story products, observations, video recordings and diaries of the researcher and students which were obtained from the research study, were analyzed and interpreted by creating themes, sub-themes, tables of frequency and percentage values. When the research findings were examined, implementation of the digital story for values education had positive effects on students in many ways. 4th grade students' motivation and participation in the class increased with the digital story for values education. In addition to this, they were happy and had fun in the process of the digital story. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the digital story made contribution to students' ability to write story, draw and students' computer skills. In addition to this, it supports students' skills such as creative thinking, collaboration and communication. Keywords: Digital storytelling method, value, values education, case study.
