Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to reveal the deficiencies or the aspects that need to be developed regarding the qualities of the activities in the primary school mathematics books. In this context, the activities in the mathematics textbooks belonging to three different publishers, which are deemed appropriate to be taught in primary school 4th grade schools, were examined by document analysis method. In this study, which was designed as a qualitative research, descriptive analysis approach was used in the analysis of the information obtained. The EDGA scale was used to evaluate the activities while performing the analyses. The scores obtained from the activity text dimension and mathematical potential components of the activities evaluated with a rubik's EDGA indicate that mathematical potential should be developed in all three books. It has been observed that the books, which are included in a small number of activities for students to work in groups, also have a limited variety in terms of the materials used (notebook, pencil, etc.). In the new curriculum, it was emphasized that the concretization of education and training with activities supports permanent learning. Therefore, presenting the activities in the 4th grade mathematics textbooks, which is the transition year from primary school to secondary school, to students in a more qualified way will increase the efficiency of learning activities using these activities. This will positively affect students' secondary school mathematics achievement. Keywords: Mathematics textbooks, activity, quality of activities
