Examination of primary school students' anxiety about science course

The purpose of this research; To determine the anxiety levels of primary school students towards science course and to examine whether there are significant differences according to gender and grade level variables. The study group of the research consists of a total of 1024 3rd and 4th grade students studying in primary schools in the Central district of Ağrı province in the 2021-2022 academic year. The study was designed with survey research, one of the quantitative research methods. In this research, "Science Anxiety Scale" and "Personal Information Form" were used as data collection tools. Research data were analyzed with SPSS 26.0 package program. The significance level was taken as 0.05 in all analyses. Arithmetic mean, percentage, frequency and Independent Sample t-Test were used to analyze the data. According to the findings of the research, it was determined that primary school students' anxiety towards science course was low. No significant difference was observed according to the gender variable. However, according to the grade level variable, it was observed that the anxiety levels of 3rd grade students were lower than those of 4th grade students.
