Abstract (EN)

Research on how individuals can learn best in educational environments emerges as a driving force. One of the most important factors affecting students' learning is learning styles. Learning styles include distinctive behaviors that can be observed from the outside, giving signals about how students can learn. However, another factor affecting student-centered education philosophy and students' learning is the attitudes towards the course. In this context, this research was conducted to examine the primary school students' learning styles and the attitudes towards science lessons. The sample of this research, which is based on the relational research model, consists of a total of 156 (92 girls, 64 boys) studying in the third and fourth grades of the primary schools in a city located in the Central Black Sea region. In the 2020-2021 academic year the data was collected using the 'Marmara Learning Styles Scale' developed by Şimşek (2007) and the 'Attitude Towards Science Lesson Scale' developed by Taşkın and Aksoy (2019), whose theoretical background is based on Dunn and Dunn Learning Styles. In the statistical calculations of the data obtained in the research, the predictive statistical analyzes and the descriptive statistical analyzes were used. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students' attitudes towards science lesson, their attitudes towards the methods and the techniques used in science lesson, their attitudes towards the relationship of science lesson with daily life and the attitudes of science lesson content were at a high level. In addition, it was determined that female students' attitudes towards associating science lessons with daily life were higher than male students' attitudes towards associating science lessons with daily life. In addition, it was determined that there was no significant relationship between students' attitudes towards science course and their learning styles. Based on the results obtained, studies can be carried out to increase primary school students' attitudes towards the science lessons; learning environments can be arranged according to learning styles in order to achieve the aims aimed in science education.
