Abstract (EN)
Being a teacher is a special profession and has always been important for a long time in terms of its functionality. It is worth noting that our children who are of great importance for our future and entrusted to teachers are educated by teachers who have health literacy in the school environment as knowing what level of health education teachers have make us feel safe. It is important for our teachers teaching in schools to be knowledgeable and experienced in health literacy in order to be present in the face of any danger that may occur and to intervene with first aid studies in terms of preventing or minimizing the dangers.The aim of this study is to determine the level of health literacy of primary, secondary and high school teachers working in public schools in the central district of Kastamonu Province and public schools in Keçiören, the district of Ankara Province. In this respect, the European Health Literacy- Turkish version (ASOY-TR) form consisting of 47 questions adapted by Prof. Dr.Pınar Okyay and Associate Professor Filiz Abacıgil have been used to determine the health literacy levels of teachers as a means of data collection . The population of the research has been intended to include 350 teachers who work at primary, secondary and high school levels in Ankara (Keçiören) and Kastamonu, however; it consists of 331 teachers.The questionnaire has been applied to teachers working in designated schools.The date has been analyzed with SPSS package program. In line with the findings obtained from the study, the health literacy levels of teachers are found much lower than expected according to age, gender, marital status, habits, work experience, position, the department ,the province and district in which they work.
