Examinition of the effect of Jeopardy education on academical success and attitude in the elemantary social studies

One of the digital games used as an effective teaching material and developed in accordance with technological opportunities is Jeopardy which was born as a quiz show in broadcasting. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of Jeopardy-supported instruction on students' academic achievement and attitudes towards the course in the fourth grade Social Studies course in primary school. Research is carried out by adopting explanatory mixed method and studied with 4th grades of Eskişehir Province Sarıcakaya County Fatih Primary School. The participants were consisted of 30 students; the experimantation group was consisted of 15 students and the control group was consisted of 15 students. Academic success scale that prepared by researcher, attitude scale that prepared by Kalın and Topkaya (2017) and semi-structured interview form are used as data collection tools in this research. According to the research findings; there was no statistically significant difference between the academic achievement and attitude tests of the experimental group students studying with Jeopardy and the control group students studying with the current approach, but it was determined that the averages were in favor of the experimental group. In addition, the students were satisfied with the Jeopardy game; it has been revealed that the competition and cooperation provided by the game creates an exciting classroom atmosphere and they want to play the game in many other lessons.
