Stakeholder opinions on values education in primary schools

Purpose: The aim of the study is to reveal stakeholder views on values educa-tion in primary schools. Method: The research was conducted using a qualitative research method du-ring the 2023-2024 academic year with 4th-grade students, their teachers, parents, and administrators of primary. The basic qualitative research design was employed, and data were obtained through interviews. The data were analyzed and interpreted using descriptive analysis. Findings: The data obtained in this study, which examines stakeholder views on values education in elementary school, are thematized as definitions of the concept of value, contributions of value education to students, factors that are effective in value education, practices carried out within the scope of value education, expectations from stakeholders in value education, institutions cooperating within the scope of value edu-cation, responsibilities, problems encountered and solutions, and suggestions for value education to be functional. Direct quotations from stakeholder opinions were included. Conclusion and Suggestions: According to the research results, in line with the opinions of administrators and teachers, administrators and teachers stated that students behave per values in the context of values education in primary school. Again, admi-nistrators and teachers emphasized family and school/school environment among the factors affecting the value of education. In value education, parents/school-family coo-peration, NGOs, and guidance counselors were mentioned as the institutions and indi-viduals with whom cooperation was made. In line with the opinions of parents and stu-dents, parents define the concept of value as fundamental values, and students describe it as good behavior. In the practices carried out at school within the scope of value education, it was stated that student-centered activities were included.
