The reflection of teaching with games in primary school on students' personal features

The game, which is a practice that humanity has been continuing since its very beginning, begins in life and continues by changing in every period. Play is a very important tool for the child to make sense of and become aware of the world she/he lives in and her/his environment. For this reason, it is important to re-live traditional games, which have begun to lose their importance, to transfer them to future generations, and therefore to teach with games. With this research, it is aimed to determine the reflection of the teaching with games in primary school on the personality traits of the students. In this research, the basic qualitative research design, which is one of the qualitative research methods, was studied. Questionnaire and observation were used as data collection tools. By means of the questionnaire, it was determined that the students' knowledge of the games, their playing situations and the sources of learning the games were determined. Information about the personality traits of the students in the games was collected through observation. The research consists of 40 3rd grade students attending a primary school affiliated to the Sancaktepe district national education directorate of Istanbul in the 2022-2023 academic year. According to the results, it has been seen that traditional and modern children's games have positive reflections on the personality traits of students, some personality traits are more influenced by traditional games, and some personality traits are affected by modern games. There has also been an increase in the awareness levels of the games. The games were processed by adapting to the course outcomes, and it was seen that the students' interest in the course increased.
