Relationship between the value perceptions and the levels of realizing organizational citizenship behaviors of the school administrators and teachers working in primary schools

Purpose of the study is to determine the relationship between the value perceptions and the levels of realizing organizational citizenship behaviors of school administrators and teachers working at the primary schools in the central district of Aksaray Province. Data of the study were obtained from 20 school principals, 27 deputy school principals, and 210 classroom teachers working in the primary schools in Aksaray province in 2015-2016 educational year. Relational screening model was used in the study. Data were obtained using "Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale" which was developed by Podsakoff, MacKenzie, Moorman, and Fetter (1990), and Moorman (2007), adapted to Turkish by Polat (2007), and Schwartz Value Survey (SVS) which was developed by Schwartz (1992), and adapted to Turkish by Kuşdil and Kağıtçıbaşı (2000). In the analysis of the data, frequency,percentage, arithmetic mean, standart deviation, and Pearson Correlation Test, and regression analysis were used. It was found in the study that the school principals and teachers considered the value of helpfulness the most important and the value of power the least important; the deputy school principals considered the value of self-control the most important and the value of power the least important; the levels of realization of the organizational citizenship behavior of the school administrators and teachers were significantly high; there was no significant relationship between the value perceptions and the levels of realization of the organizational citizenship behavior of the deputy school principals; the value perceptions of the school principals were 24.7% effective on their levels of realizing organizational citizenship behavior.
