The importance of historical graphic novels to cause the students to gain national councience in elementary schools: The sample of Tarkan graphic novels

The aim of this research is to determine the ideas of teachers about the usage of graphic novels dealing with Turkish History which have been used in The Know ledge of Life Courses in 3 rd and 4 th grades. The research group is 130 teachers working in different elementary schools in Silopi, Şırnak. 75 of these teachers is female and 55 is male. A survey form questioneying the importance of graphic novels on national councience was given to these elementary schools teachers and asked them to answer. The quantitative evolution is used in this research as a statistical packet programme (SPSS-21). The findings and results have been interpreted with descriptive analysis method. According to these findings and results the usage of historical graphic novels as a material is very important and useful in order to bring in the national councience in elementary schools. Moreover these materials help students to improve their abililities on reading, writing, listening and understanding. There fore it can be stated that teachers in elementary schools should be educated on using these graphic materials.
