Analysis of the narration differences between the ravis of Imam Asim; Abu Bakr Shube and Hafs Bin Suleiman

When one refers to the Quranic sciences, the first thing that comes to our my mind is the tafsir (the hermeneutics). We should state that another important component of the Quranic sciences together with the tafsir comprises of the qira'at. Hence, there is a salient link between these to sciences. The qira'at science is not only related to the tafsir it is also related to the kalam, fiqh and other Islamic sciences. That's why, the qira'at science provide considerable resource materials for the Islamic sciences. It is possible to refer to different schools within the qira'at sicence. One of these is the Âsım qira'at. The Âsım qira'at, which is currently the most widely used qira'at in the world, has two referents (i.e. raves) including Abu Bakr Shube and Hafs bin Suleiman. In our study, the different readings of these two raves are investigated. These differences mainly stem from some practices such as the local accent, vowel points and letter differences, which change or don't change the meaning. While Abu Bakr Shube draws attention largely through imâle, ihtilâs, iskân and teshil, Hafs bin Suleiman has almost no such practices which feel tough for langugae except for a few exceptions. Controversies stemming from these differences confront us at approximately five thousand and twenty points. In our thesis, these controversies are dealt with one by one, and analyzed within the framework of the qira'at science method and thus, their impacts on meaning are determined. The abovementioned controversies are clearly and explicitly analyzed for a scientific research.
