Abstract (EN)

Imam Rabbani is a Sufi and versatile scholar who lived in the late sixteenth century and at the beginning of the seventeenth century. The concept of jihad had been shaped by the driving force of the historical background of the period in which he lived. Many heretical groups emerged at that time. The basic understanding of these heretical groups was to discredit the revelation and they claimed that the validity of the revelation was no longer valid because the thousand years passed since the arrival of Hz. Prophet. An attempt was made to establish an eclectic religion understanding by taking a piece of all religions. In this environment, Imam Rabbani made a great effort to purge the religious superstition and to make people take the prophet as an example. He conducted his illuminating activities with the letters he sent to the political, scientific and spiritual influential people of the region. He was called as Muceddid-i Elf-i Sani (the renewer of the hijri second millennium) because of his works. Imam Rabbani, who completed his Quran memory at an early age, quoted many verses from the Quran in his letters and other works. As sometimes he commented on these verses, he sometimes mentioned them as a reference or as a source. When he felt joy and success, he mentioned the verses pointing to Allah's supremacy. When he felt tired and overwhelmed, he sought a way out with praying verses. This study includes his understanding of the Qur'an and some kalam, fiqh, political and symbolic ta'wil examinations of the versus he used in his letters and other works.
