Imdat Avşar's life, art and works

Imdat Avşar, who has a very important place in today's storytelling, has succeeded to stand out with his unique style, the language he uses the Central Anatolian dialect, and the original topics he chooses. His stories, which he adorned with local elements and wrote in a sincere style carried him to different position in Turkish literature than his coevals. Therewithal, he is an environmentally and socially conscious writer. His stories also include depictions of the natural environment and social issues. The author, who achieved to be the voice of the Turkish Villagers, wrote stories about "us". He created an original fiction with real life stories. He presents the experiences he gained during his teaching years and the events he witnessed, sometimes by word-of-mouth of Anatolian people, sometimes by Istanbul Turkish. He vitalizes steppe people by his stories. He gives the customs, feelin2021, s. thoughts and sorrows of Anatolian Turks to the reader by abstracting from his heart. He uses both showing and telling methods while conveying the events. The subjects of the stories are the events that took place in the middle part of Anatolia. Imdat Avşar exhibits a national and local posture by approaching from a national point of view. He also brought a genuine approach to educational problems.
