Abstract (EN)
Neonicotinoids are a new class of insecticides and have been used extensively in the fight against aphids, leaf fleas, insects, moths and pests affecting crops and leafy vegetables in recent years. Imidacloprid and acetamiprid are insecticides from neonicotinoid group, which are widely used for killing insects especially in agriculture and veterinary, but which can be a potential threat to other organisms. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of imidacloprid and acetamiprid on immune response and lipid peroxidation. For this purpose, imidacloprid and acetamiprid were prepared in two different doses at 5 mg/kg and 10 mg/kg according to the body weight and were given to the mice by oral gavage for 30 days. After administration of insecticides, mice were immunized with ovalbumin (OVA) as antigen on days 7 and 17 OVA-specific antibody response was determined by ELISA in serum samples obtained after immunizations. 10 mg/kg dose of imidacloprid was found to significantly reduce the amount of anti-OVA specific IgG, IgG1 and IgG2a when compared to 5 mg/kg dose. However different doses of acetamiprid did not cause signifıcant changes in IgG, IgG1 and IgG2a levels. There was no significant changes in IgM levels. The results show that imidacloprid suppresses immune response in a dose-dependent manner when compared to acetamiprid. It has been shown that MDA levels were significantly increased in livers of mice exposed to 5 mg/kg ve 10 mg/kg doses of imidacloprid and acetamiprid when compared to control groups.
