Investigation of sTREM-1, sHLA-G5 and HLA-DR levels which directs immune response in acute brucellosis patients

Abstract (EN)

Brucellosis that occured by Brucella spp. is an important zoonotic disease which can be transmitted to people with several ways and seen widespread in Turkey and in the world. It exist as an endemic in our region. It is a facultative intracellular bacteria. So the treatment of the disease takes a long time and disease may occur with relapse and reinfections. Disease which can affect all systems, rarely can cause permanent sequelas and moreover deaths. In this study, the levels of sTREM-1 and sHLA-G5 have been determined by ELISA method, the levels of lymphocyte, monocyte, granulocyte, CD14+ monocyte, CD14+HLA-DR+ cells, CD45+, CD3+, CD3+HLA-DR+, CD4+ and CD8+ T-lymphocyte, CD19+ B-lymphocyte, NK and NK-T cells have been determined by flow cytometry method in non-complicated brucellosis cases pre-treatment serums and compared with a control group. The aim of this study is determine the levels of lymphocyte subsets and sTREM-1 and sHLA-G5 with uncomplicated acute brucellosis patients and provide a better understanding of the pathogenesis of brucellosis. This study includes 25 brucellosis patients and 25 healthy volunteers. According to the findings of the study, it is found that levels of CD3+, CD8+ and CD3+HLA-DR+T-lymphocyte is signficantly higher in patient group (p<0,05). Other lymphocyte subpopulations are not found significant as different (p>0,05). The levels of sTREM-1 and sHLA-G5 are not found significantly between patients group and volunteers group (p>0,05). But correlation between sTREM-1 and sHLA-G5 is found significant as statistically (p<0,05). As a result, brucellosis is a disease which type 1 cellular immunity stands in the forefront. Further studies are needed about sTREM-1 and sHLA-G, for a better understanding of immunopathogenesis of brucellosis.
