Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate the impact of corruption on good governance in Somalia. Since the collapse of central government at the beginning of 1991, the country entered a civil war that made the state failed. After tremendous efforts made by the international community, the country regained its system of government. Although there is no effective government, the country is fighting with the powerful terrorist group named Al-Shabab, which is considered the most deadly terror group in Africa. Somalia is considered the world's most corrupted country in the world, according to Transparency International (TI) 2019. In this research, a secondary data sources of a complete decade which covers 2009-2019, were analyzed to the both of the variables (Corruption and good governance), and the two data sources were taken from Transparency International Corruption perception index (CPI) and World bank Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI). The main objective of this study is to know the relationship between corruption and good governance in Somalia. Also, this study seeks answers to the question of the relationship between corruption and good governance. And to examine this, multiple simple regressions were employed as the study concludes that there is a significant relationship between corruption and good governance in Somalia. Finally, this study recommends that comprehensive monitoring and assessment are required to identify the major issues of poor governance practices in Somalia at the federal and regional levels. This monitoring and assessment method might aid administrative authorities, civil society organizations, and policymakers in identifying obstacles to project execution.
