Relation between liver histopathology and serum levels of cytokeratin 18 and prolidase enzyme in the carriers of inactive hepatitis B virus and the patients with active chronic hepatitis B infection

Direct relation of prolidase enzyme which liberates during collagen degradation with fibrotic activity suggest that it might be valuable in monitoring chronic liver disease.Besides hepatic apoptosis has an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic liver disease.Cytokeratin18 is the substrate of the caspase that appear during hepatic apoptosis .In the present study we aimed the investigate whether severity of hepatic necroinflammation and stage of fibrosis are in relation with prolidase enzyme and serum ck18 levels in the patients with active chronic hepatitisB infection and the carriers of inactive hepatitisB virus.
