Abstract (EN)

In this study, the major churches and synagogues in İzmir in terms of faith tourism are discussed. For this purpose, tourism, faith tourism and the current situation is discussed, and primary examples from Turkey and the world are presented in the study. The history of Izmir, where Muslims and other religious members have always lived together, is reflected comprehensively. Related studies were examined, and it was observed that there are many churches and synagogues visited by their members in İzmir. Apart from the churches and synagogues that have survived to the present day and been kept in the records, various religious sites that were destroyed and lost are also revealed. Interest in these places has been observed to increase lately. It was also emphasized that people's belief in God and perceptions of God from past to present were effective in these structures. The fact that God was perceived and believed in many different ways by the believers of the divine and non-divine religions led to the emergence of places of worship and spiritual satisfaction. In this framework, these temples have been established in many regions and cities throughout history and have survived to the present day. From this point of view, information about 14 churches and 14 synagogues in Izmir was given within the scope of faith tourism and their photographs are presented.
