Abstract (EN)

In the history of the world, human and art have shaped together. Humans who wanted to make sense of their existence have observed and listened to nature, and conveyed these experiences to others. The oldest of these transmissions is sound. Humans have attributed meanings to sound since their existence and incorporated it into every aspect of life. As humans developed, they also shaped sound and began recording it to share with others. This is how music records, tapes, and CDs were born. At this point, humans who shaped their existence with art make use of design. Although design does not belong within music, it develops music and makes it visible all over the world. In this research, Indie music albums were semioticly examined in terms of graphic design, and it was discussed how designs should be approached, and sample design applications were made in the light of the information obtained. It is aimed to analyze the images contained in the graphic expressions revealed by indie music, based on the album cover designs of music groups. In line with this goal, the concept of design was first discussed, and the principles and elements that should be considered when designing were explained, and then the formation, history, and music of Indie music culture were mentioned. The impact of Indie music on people and the design process influenced by art movements were examined. Finally, a fictional Indie music group was created based on these examinations, and album covers and concert posters were designed.
