Abstract (EN)
Pesticides, whose use has increased dramatically, are used in modern agriculture to control pests such as insects, weeds, microorganisms and to increase crop yields in nowadays. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the structural changes caused by indoxacarb in DNA and antioxidant enzyme activities in blood samples taken from 7 different individuals. Blood samples used in our study were divided into two groups as control group and application group. After increasing doses of indoxacarb, the amount of malondialdehyde, antioxidant enzyme activity and DNA damage were compared with the control group. According to the comet test, DNA damage was determined with DNA tail percentage, tail length and tail moment with increasing the doses of indoxacarb. Antioxidant defense system enzymes which are superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) enzyme and malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured and evaluated in spectrophotometer in control and application groups. The activities of these enzymes involved in antioxidant enzyme activity decreased statistically while the level of MDA increased. In this study, uncontrolled use of indoxacarb insecticide in nature has been shown to have harmful effects on the environment and living things. However, the present study has been a preliminary study on this subject and will contribute to the literature and will shed light on the following comprehensive studies.
