Abstract (EN)
In recent years, due to population growth and rapid development of the industry, large amounts of toxic gases are emitted into the air every year as a result of the burning of fossil fuels in large power plants, factories, and vehicles. These gases have negative effects on both human health and the environment and converting these gases harmless or cleaning them constitutes a current problem. In this study, a new method for the elimination of environmentally hazardous flue gases, which does not require any chemical catalyst and offers significant advantages in terms of applicability, is proposed. In the first stage of the proposed method, chemical decomposition of toxic gases was provided by applying voltages at various frequencies to a Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) reactor. In the second stage, an induction preheating system was used in addition to the system in order to further increase the efficiency of DBD plasmas in removing harmful gases. In the third stage, the relationship between the energy consumed in the induction heater and the gas temperature formed was determined. In the last stage of the study, the effect of Barrier Discharge and induction heater on the elimination of CO2 gas was investigated. As a result of the study, it was observed that the effect of high-frequency plasma charge bombardment was highly effective in the decomposition of toxic gas compounds. In addition, it has been found that inspected gases can be converted into other useful products controllably without the need for any catalyst or other additional systems. It has been found that while NO and NOX gases decompose at very low temperatures, the bonds of SO2 gas are more difficult to break than NO and NOX gases, but as the discharge voltage increases, SO2 gas starts to be decomposed even at lower temperatures. The decomposition of CO gas was found to be due to the voltage applied to the reactor rather than the temperature of the gas. Finally, it has been found that high-frequency plasma charge bombardment is highly effective in the decomposition of toxic gas compounds when used in combination with an induction heating method.
