English teachers' opinions on teaching problems they experience: A case study

This study aimed to identify and to understand the opinions of English teachers on the teaching problems related to English language teaching. This research is a qualitative study and also is in pattern of a holistic multiple case study. For this study, criterion sampling which is a type of purposive sampling methods within qualitative sampling methods was used. 11 English teachers from 44 who were volunteers to participate to the study and work in a junior secondary school in Konyaaltı province in Antalya city center were chosen as the sample; while doing this, the seniority and full-time working of the teachers in their current school was a consideration point. Data in the study were collected by individual interviews. Interviews that were carried out by the help of semi-structured question forms and interviews lasting 30-45 minutes were recorded and then content analysis was applied to them. Opinions obtained from interviews were categorized under main and sub-themes. Results of the study contains the findings that reflect the opinions of teachers under the themes above and these findings helped to understand the teaching problems English teachers experienced and how instructional problems to be solved.
