The study of factors affecting duration of hospital admissions who are stroke patients

Objective: To examine the factors which affects duration of hospital admissions who are stroke people.Methods: This study was performed within the boundaries of the province of Izmir Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, Ege University Hospital, İzmir S.B. Atatürk Education and Research Hospital, Buca Seyfi Demirsoy State Hospital, Bozyaka Education and Research Hospital and Tepecik Education and Research Hospital. Individuals who applied to hospital emergency services, cancer and stroke, neurology service, or parts of the inpatient stroke unit was to examine individuals who decided to be treated. As a data collection tool, questionnaire "Characteristics of Individuals with Stroke" was used.Results: 517 individuals admitted to the emergency room and admission to hospital with a diagnosis of stroke, median time to 210 minutes (3.5 hours) is, 47% (n = 243) were admitted to hospital the first three hours. applying to another health care institution (p: .000) to another health care institution (p: .000) patients whose symptoms emerges hours between 00.01-18.00 (p= .001) had applied to the hospital later. Using an ambulance for transport to hospital (p: .000), individual who has someone by him while emerging symptoms (p: .002) individuals had applied early to the hospital significantly.Conclusions: Duration of the interviewed individuals reaching the hospital, life-saving treatment option that is required for the implementation of rt-PA is over three hours. The results of this study, reducing the amount of time and increasing the proportion of early applicants to the nearest stroke center to provide the fastest access to emergency assistance systems for the organization and the community about stroke symptoms seek medical help quickly identify and show the importance of awareness.Key words: Stroke nursing, Pre-hospital period, Delay
