Abstract (EN)

Aim: In injuries caused by work accidents, the type of accident, work branch, injury site, bone fractures, organ damage, and the forensic evaluation made as a result of injuries, is to determine the cause of death factors in cases of death. Material and Method: Occupational accident cases who applied to our hospital between 01.01.2016 and 31.12.2020 in a 5-year period were included in the study. Persons involved in the accident; age, gender, injuries, injury areas, accident time, day, season, cause of death in case of death, forms of discharge, hospitalization, whether the injury can be repaired with a simple medical intervention, whether it is life-threatening, whether a blood alcohol test has been performed, whether there is insurance were evaluated in terms of the way the accident occurred and the profession. The data were analyzed in SPSS 26.00 program. Results: In the cases in our study, it was observed that men had more occupational accidents than women and they lost their lives more as a result of these accidents. It has been determined that occupational accidents are more common in the younger age group. It has been determined that occupational accidents are most common in autumn and in April. It was observed that the most common time of the day for occupational accidents was before noon, the most common days were Wednesday and Friday. The most frequently injured area in the body was the upper extremity, the most common lesion type was bone fracture. Conclusion: Almost all occupational accidents occur due to preventable reasons. Providing training to employees at routine intervals, providing health checks, maintaining personal protective equipment, minimizing risks in the workplace will be important in terms of preventing occupational accidents.
