Abstract (EN)

This study was prepared to introduce Naksıdil Valide Sultan's social complex which is located in Fatih, Istanbul and also to enlighten its history and the building process of the structures within the context of archival files. Naksıdil Sultan, who is one of the Sultans that made helping other people their life goals, has always been interested in charity and helping those in need and also has gotten a good amount of important monuments built in the fields of religion, science and society through her lifetime. The social complex which is one of the monuments of Naksıdil Sultan and which consists of a mausoleum, a primary school, a fountain (one for drinking water and a decorative other) and a hospice; was once examined as a license-degree study at University of Istanbul's department of Art History in 1970 but the archive sources were not used in this study. In addition to that; if we take a look at the studies that have been examined up to now we can easily see that there are no studies approaching the building processes of the monuments and the restaurations of those. In this study based on this fact, an effort was shown to examine the social complex of Naksıdil Sultan way more detailed. For the detection of the monuments of the aforementioned social complex, the Republican Period's archives have been consulted; apart from that; the changes of the monuments within time also their historical processes and restorations have been detected, associated with the other documents and visuals which can be accessed through the archives under favour of the technical literature of architecture and art history. The constructional expenses' book which can be found on the second chapter where the structures of the complex have been told, is largely essential in terms of envolving the worker groups, diversity of equipments that've been used, the expenses that've been made during the building process and lastly for revealing the first constructional situation. On the other hand the reparations have been discussed with the documents that've been provided by the Directorate of Mausoleums' Museum, BOA and VGMA.
