Investigation of work accident risks of employees in the construction industry in terms of demographic variables

Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the occupational accident risks of construction workers in terms of demographic variables. The questionnaire form prepared in line with the purpose; It was applied to 400 people working in construction in Kocaeli in 2024, determined by convenience sampling method. The data obtained were subjected to chi-square and logistic regression analysis in computer environment. As a result of the research; it was determined that a significant majority of the participants (55.5%) had experienced an occupational accident. In the study, it was found that age, smoking and alcohol increased the risk of occupational accidents, while total working time, use of personal protective equipment, satisfaction with working hours and working environment significantly reduced the risk of accidents. Variables such as educational status, chronic disease status, monthly income level, voluntary choice of occupation, etc. were found to be independent of the risk of occupational accidents.
