Abstract (EN)

Competition is intense within the construction industry. Construction companies need to make effective project management and use resources effectively and efficiently to survive in intense competition environment. This situation stresses the necessity of adaption of development technology to project management. Building Information Modelling, which has increasing importance and usage in last 5 years in developing countries were reviewed in this study. The aim of this study is: ?To identify BIM?s usage area and commonality in Turkish Construction Industry ?Improving the system and thus making it applicable for prevention and reduction of concrete wastes, which is thought not to be done before since it is not come across in our literature review. The reason to focus on especially concrete waste is wide usage of concrete in construction projects and high costs associated with it.xvPrevention and reduction in concrete waste analysis was made by Allplan, which is a Building Information Modelling software. The main reason to choose this software was its ability to input the quantity lists. The study took place as a new application in terms of Allplan was not used to minimize concrete waste before. In this study, a real project was handled and modelled. Quantities was be calculated by software command. Thanks to this method, a reduction in released concrete waste in construction and construction costs was provided. This provides a reduction in overall project cost, increase in profit margin and thus enables the contractor to better compete in the market. In addition, both construction process (materials, management etc.) and building energy consumption is a reason for global warming by CO2 emission. Preventing and reducing concrete wastes will help against this. The study was enriched by a questionnaire application. The questionnaire was prepared making use of the information obtained from related literature and the application stages of the method. The questionnaire was then being applied to companies that does and does not work with this system. According to questionnaire results, no differences were determined between YBM user and who does not use YBM in practice. As a result, it is determined that YBM is a necessary innovation and companies are agreed about they can take advantage when YBM is used.
