The relationship between human rights jurisdiction and growth

Human rights are inalienable rights that people have as soon as they are born. Many views on human rights, both national and international, have emerged and related laws have been drawn up from past to present. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, citizens of developed countries and citizens of underdeveloped countries have the same human rights. In other words, all people can enjoy human rights equally, without distinction of class, race, religion, language or gender. Judicial system which is both one of the most important authorities of the nations and serves to solve legal problems is responsible for protecting human rights and freedoms. The judicial system and human rights are part of an inseparable whole. The increase in gross domestic product is defined as economic growth. When the economy grows in a country, the income of the citizens increases and thus their standard of living rises. However, if this income increase takes place unfairly, it causes a human rights violation. If the judiciary remains passive in resolving this injustice, the trust of both the country's own citizens and the citizens of other countries in the state will decrease. The decline in trust in the state also affects economic growth over time. In other words, if a country can effectively protect its human rights decisions and its judicial system, economic growth in that country will also be positively affected. In this study, the effects of human rights and the judiciary on economic growth are examined. An empirical study was conducted using the unbalanced panel data set with the data of the research conducted between the years of 1961 and 2017 in 184 countries related to human rights and the data of the studies conducted between the years 2000 and 2018 of 161 countries related to the judiciary. According to the findings, positive improvements in human rights and judicial independence positively affect the economic growth of the relevant country.
