Human blood serum from the QCM sensor using blood determination of glucose parameters

Diabetes is a chronic and noncontagious condition that leads life quality reducing diseases and even deaths. Measuring and taking under control of blood glucose parameter accurately and reliably is important for patients with diabetes. In this study, blood glucose parameter measurement studies are accomplished using Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) sensor. 96 volunteers' blood serum samples that 86 of them belong to control group and 10 of them belong to test group, are used in experiments. Their blood glucose values are between 71 mg/dl and 329 mg/dl. Samples for the project are obtained from biochemical laboratory of Dumlupinar University Evliya Celebi Training and Research Hospital. Serum parts of centrifuged bloods of patients are used as samples. A positive correlation between blood glucose parameters and QCM frequency shift is observed. Linear regression analysis is realized with the help of MATLAB software and first order transfer function of QCM sensor is obtained. Sensor responses that are obtained from experimental results are compared with results from biochemical laboratory of hospital and error rate determination of results is realized. Comparison operation is performed by an interpolation based interface software which is developed by MATLAB GUI and mean error rate is found as 3.25%.
