Abstract (EN)

Cancer is accepted as an important health problem that has not been solved nowadays. Breast cancer is a type of cancer which makes risk in women?s life. The aim of the desease?s treatment is to clear off all the cancer cells and the treatment?s methods are surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. 80 per cent of cancer patients can get cured by chemotherapy, but 20 per cent of the patients do not have resistence to the chemotherapic drugs or have fetal toxicity. There fore, today the basic methods and the drugs that are applied on cancer treatments are clearly defective. For this reason, in the last few years it is more important to research new anticancerogen drugs specially drugs from plants against to breast cancer.For the first time, in this study it was aimed to investigate the anticancerogenic effects of the water and the ethanol extracts from Nerium oleander?s leaves and flowers and compare with the effects of synthetic drugs (vepesid) on human breast cancer cells? culture in in vitro conditions.Experiments were realized by various methods like MCF-7 cells? culture, cells? counting , considering the cells by morphological and MTT method. The results were considered by morphologically. The ethanol and water extracts from Nerium oleander have cleared cytotoxic effect on MCF-7 cell culture.The anticancerogenic effects of Nerium oleander?s extracts on breast cancer?s cells are the same as the effect of anticancerogen drug vespesid on cells, there was only a difference determined according to applied doses of concentrations.Key words: Vepesid, Nerium oleander, MCF-7, MTT
