Abstract (EN)

Compounds derived from Phellodendron species, belong to the Rutaceae family, have been reported to have immune-modulation, antitumor, antibacterial, and antiglomerular basement membrane nephritis effects. Hypoglycemic effects of Phellodendron lavallei (PL) that grows in Georgia have been shown in the literature. For the first time, in this study it was aimed to investigate the apoptopic and cytostatic effects of Phellavin flavonoid which is isolated from PL plant on human breast cancer cell culture in vitro conditions.Experiments were realized by various methods, MCF-7 cell culture, cell counting, MTT method, caspase-3 activity and cytochemical flourescence staining. The results have been considered by morphologically. Findings obtained from cell counting, MTT and caspase-3 activity tests were subjected to statistical analysis. The results are obtained from five different methods have shown consistence. The Phellavin flavonoid is obtained from the leaf of the PL plant has a significant cytotoxic effect on MCF-7 cell culture has been observed. Phellavin realizes the cell death in low doses by apoptosis has been observed.
