Abstract (EN)
INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Although the incidence of testicular tumor is low in males, this rate has increased in recent years. Although classical BEP treatment in human germ cell testicular tumors (HGCT) is an effective treatment, it has significant side effects due to its toxic effects. In our study, it was aimed to determine the positive or negative effect of boron which is known to have positive therapeutic or supportive effects in the world. METHOD: The experimental study was performed using 5 groups of HGCT cell lines. All groups were treated with BEP chemotherapy. One group was determined as control group. Control group: BEP. Group 1: BEP + 0.5 µg / ml Borax. Group 2: BEP + 1 µg / ml Borax. Group 3: BEP + 5 µg / ml Borax. Group 4: BEP + 10 10g / ml Borax. Cell viability was measured by MTT in culture medium. Immunocytochemically, parameters such as Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3 and VEGF were examined. Immunocytochemical staining was evaluated under a microscope. Immuno-positive and ımmuno-negative cells were counted for each parameter in each group and the obtained numbers were used for statistical evaluation.RESULTS: Immunocytochemical parameters were found to be close to the control group in all groups and no significant difference was found between the groups (p>0.05).DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Our study showed that borax does not have a significant effect on Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3 and VEGF expressions but this comprehensive study can shed light on other studies and it is appropriate to evaluate the findings by in vivo studies.
