Searching "A real figure of human/humanity": The relationship between space and everyday life in the neighborhood of Hürriyet

This study stands on the relationship between space and daily life. In addressing the relationship between the production of space and daily life practices, space is analyzed as a social construction that is included in the fields of property relations, work and social reproduction relations, produces daily practices and reproduces them. At the same time, throughout the study, the relationship between the production of space and the transformations in daily life practices, and the political economy of urbanization were taken into consideration; It is aimed to reveal the aspects of daily life in which capitalist production relations affect all aspects, and the dialectical relations between them. In line with this goal, as a case study, the spatial and social transformation of Bursa Hürriyet Mahallesi since its establishment in the 1950s was investigated. Interviews were conducted with 23 participants who are immigrants from Bulgaria, and neighborhood spaces and daily practices were observed. In this research, the process of transforming the neighborhood, which was established as a residential area by the state and with modernist planning, into a living space through the needs and daily practices of immigrants from Bulgaria; working life, family and neighborhood relations, and leisure practices were analyzed in the context of their relations with spaces.
