An analytical study of the morphology and syntax of Surah al-Inshiqāq

This study analyzes the morphological (sarf) and syntactic (nahw) structure of Surah al-Inshiqāq, the 84th chapter of the Qur'an. The vocabulary of the surah is examined through its roots, derivational patterns, semantic fields, and syntactic functions. The key term "inshiqāq" is also studied in light of its pre-Islamic usage, lexical synonyms and antonyms, and its historical-linguistic background. The research is based on classical Arabic linguistic sources and major tafsīr works, while taking into account modern semantic approaches. Previous studies on the surah have largely focused on exegetical or thematic discussions, and a systematic linguistic analysis centered on sarf and nahw has been lacking. This study aims to address that gap. The thesis consists of an introduction, three main chapters, and a conclusion. The introduction presents the aim, scope, method, and literature review. The first chapter focuses on the semantic analysis of "inshiqāq." The second chapter examines the surah's morphological structure, and the third chapter analyzes its syntactic features. The conclusion summarizes the findings and emphasizes the contribution of linguistic analysis to understanding the Qur'anic text. Ultimately, the study clarifies the semantic layers and grammatical structures in Surah al-Inshiqāq and explains the linguistic factors underlying differences in translation, thereby offering an original contribution to Qur'anic studies within the framework of Arabic linguistics.
