Abstract (EN)

Intracranial aneurysms affect about 6% of all of the worldpopulation. The annual incidence is explained about 10-16 /100.000. Althoughruptured aneurysm is encountred about 0.05% the subarachnoid hemorrhage's range may vary from 56% to 80%andthese patients may encounter a devastating result. The purpose of our studywas to evalute the effects of the carotid siphon morphology on the aneurysm and investigate its relation with possiblity of the aneurysm formation. In addition, The goal of our study was to investigate the effect of the the internal carotid arteria siphon morphology on the distribution and size (maximum pouch diameter)of the aneurysm, predisposition to rupture, gender and age.In our opinion is that we may contribute to the literature by investigating hemodynamic factors which are effective in the devolopment of intracranial aneurysms and rupture. Retrospectvely screening all DSA and 3D DSA images including 402 patient who were followed up with SAH and aneurysm in the service and intensive care unit was performed between January 2015 and October 2017 in the Adnan Menderes Universty Neurosurgery department angiography unit. The carotid siphon types were determined according to V,C,S,U shapes and in addition, the aneurysm distribution, size, rupture and carotid sphon types were determined. The obtained data was evaluated via using the 16.0 version of the İBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, Chicago, IL, USA) program. The level of signifiicance was taken as p<0.05. The averege age of our study was 53.85 years old. Although Most counterd carotid siphon type was the V shape, C shape was least encountered. V and C carotid siphon type were more common in malesthan females. S and U carotis siphon typewere observed more frequently in female patients than male patients. The most ruptured siphon type was seen as V type, theleast rupture rate was seen as C type. These findings may be related with heamodynamic interactions of the blood stream and carotis siphon curvature. The obtained results from the study have revealed the 61 potential impact to SAH prediction. The number of aneurysms and rupture rate of aneurysm which was founded in patients have been supporting the this suspicion and the leading hypothesis of the our study. Key Words: Aneurysms, Siphone, Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
